The United States government can be quite confusing. In this class we will try to clear up some of confusion some of you may have. We will begin by focusing on the Constitution and the ways it sets up our governmental structure and some of the criterion or provisions it provides. We will also discuss the way the government is structured and divided, why it is divided that way, and what powers each division is given. Next, we will dissect each individual separation. Within each brach there are more divisions and numerous offices and employees. We will discuss how each smaller part makes up the whole and try to find sense in our massively-multiplayer-governing-machine.
Throughout this class there will be several assessments that you will need to complete. I will have the important dates for each assignment listed on the Syllabus. You will need to post, e-mail, or respond to each assignment on the date before midnight. If you have any problems submitting please e-mail me. I will post a lecture via podcast to our website every week. Each week you will have a 15-20 question quiz on the concepts and ideas discussed in our lecture. You will also need to find an article that pertains to the concepts discussed and write an accurate two pages summary. You will need to cite your source so that I may locate the information you used. Every two weeks we will have a larger quiz ... called a test. These will cover any information we have covered prior to the test. The test will have more questions and a discussion portion.
I will use this blog to keep you up to date on any important information. I will probably refrain from posting content, but dates and assessments can be found here as well as our website.
Thank you,
Mr. Stanford
